This throw isolates one hand: release the ball closer to the center of your body, then catch it in the same hand slightly farther outside. This shows immediately whether you are guiding it sideways or merely throwing it straight up above your palm. Keep your shoulder down and move your forearm without a tense swing; height comes from smoothly accelerating the hand, not lifting your whole shoulder. Watch the space around the arc’s peak, with the catching palm in your peripheral vision. A controlled throw reaches a similar peak each time and lands in an open palm without making you reach far from your body. This path control and calm catch later come together in Two in One, where there is much less room to correct an inaccurate throw.
